Career

After completing her Master's degree in Environmental Engineering at ETH Zurich, Melanie Haupt stayed on at the Chair of Ecological System Design and completed her doctorate on the topic of "Ecological optimization of municipal waste management". Following her doctorate, she dedicated another four years to research in the field of sustainable recycling management. At the same time, she started working in the private sector at REDILO on the implementation of this topic in the packaging industry in Switzerland. Dr. Melanie Haupt has been the owner and Managing Director of realcycle since 2023. She is also a lecturer in waste and recycling management and recycling technologies at ETH Zurich and various universities of applied sciences.
