Digital product passport - mattress alliance moves forward

Among other things, the digital product passport (DPP) is designed to quickly and easily provide information on which materials are present in the mattress. This enables efficient cycle closure.

The introduction of a digital product passport (DPP) is currently the subject of intense debate in the EU. There are already precise specifications for batteries, but discussions are still ongoing for other products.

In Switzerland, the Mattress Alliance already wants to take the first steps to introduce a DPP for mattresses and thus promote the mattress cycle. The information stored on the DPP will enable players along the entire value chain to optimize their pre-sorting and reprocessing activities. Information on the environmental impact of the respective mattress should also be available on the DPP in order to empower customers to purchase a sustainable mattress.

We are supporting the Mattress Alliance in this project as part of a FOEN environmental technology funding project. You can find more detailed information about the project here.
