cycleworks – Plastics in the construction industry: Synergies in building material recycling

November 20, 2025

FHNW Brugg-Windisch

Enabling material cycles with synergies and further establishing the circular economy in the construction industry - that is the aim of our cycleworks. To this end, we will be meeting with experts from the construction, plastics and recycling industries at the FHNW in Brugg-Windisch on November 20 to discuss these issues together. The focus will be on the following topics:

  • Synergies in deconstruction: How can synergies between various plastic products and other building materials – such as mineral insulation – be optimally used in the deconstruction of buildings?
  • Concepts for collection and sorting hubs: How can processes and infrastructure be used efficiently for the various products and materials?
  • Findings from test sites: What findings have we gained so far and what does the further procedure look like?

The event offers in-depth insights into current projects and brings together the perspectives of authorities, manufacturers, planners, deconstructors and recyclers. The dialogue creates new ideas, synergies and a common understanding of the challenges and potentials along the entire value chain.

A few input presentations will introduce the current situation and challenges. In addition, we will use workshops to discuss specific questions in groups and consider concrete solutions that we want to pursue together.

Whether for networking, learning from others or actively shaping the next steps – participation is worthwhile for anyone interested in circular solutions in the construction industry.

The goal is to jointly create the basis for functioning, closed material cycles for plastics and other products in the construction industry – efficiently, practically and with a focus on the future.

Save the date now – the detailed program will follow.
