Our Team
History
Our company "realcycle" emerged from the company REDILO and the realCYCLE project. During the realCYCLE project, made possible by the Migros Pioneer Fund, we built up a great network of 120 companies. Around half of them were actively involved. In order to maintain this base and the acquired expertise in sustainable cycles, Dr. Melanie Haupt and Raymond Schelker decided to found realcycle GmbH in autumn 2022. The name of the project remained, only the spelling changed. Because realcycle is about real cycles, real-cycle-s.
Raymond Schelker, co-owner of realcycle GmbH, founded REDILO GmbH in 2002 together with other partners. He had been the sole shareholder of REDILO since 2011. Over the past two decades, REDILO GmbH has made a name for itself in the field of plastics and packaging recycling. Its successes include the promotion and implementation of a circular economy for high-quality plastics and the development of the widely used report on plastic flows in Switzerland. In addition, REDILO has produced numerous studies, including on the potential of separate collections, and has helped shape important regulations, such as the enforcement aid for the disposal of medical waste.
REDILO stood for proven, tested and sustainable recycling concepts and was a recognized, manufacturer-neutral point of contact for holistic solutions. Industries are engaged in the production and reuse of plastics. However, what happens in between and how waste becomes a closed-loop recycling system were central issues in numerous REDILO projects.
As of January 1, 2023, the business of the REDILO GmbH consultancy has been transferred to the newly founded realcycle GmbH. While REDILO specialized in plastics and packaging, realcycle is opening up to new materials and all industries interested in a systemic and sustainable circular economy.
Until May 2024, Raymond Schelker was actively involved in realcycle GmbH's projects, focusing on design for recycling in plastics and holistic packaging optimization. Today, he supports the realcycle team as a Senior Advisor, providing advice and guidance.
